Contacting Sellers

When you are ready to start your home search, one of the quickest ways to discover homes within your budget is through a listings database such as this one. Always keep in mind a realistic budget when searching and try not to gravitate towards homes outside of your means.

As you begin to contact realtors and sellers, you will want to feel comfortable discussing the details that pertain to the rent to own process. It is advised to begin your outreach to sellers who have listed their home as a rent to own rather than approaching a seller who is anticipating a traditional buyer.

If you are looking to find out basic information from the realtor or seller, such as if the home is still on the market, typically a quick e-mail will do the trick. Based on the response and your interest, then it would be best to contact the realtor or seller via telephone or schedule an in person meeting.

Remember, as the conversation progresses, it is important to find out all the details on the home and have your list of questions ready. Every interaction you have with the vendor is a chance to create a meaningful and trustworthy connection. You will come across sellers who may have a special attachment to the home they are selling and truly just want to find the right fit. Your goal is to be personable and show the seller why you would be a good choice for the home.
